What is a Trunk Show?

A trunk show is a special event in which a bridal salon features a particular designer’s collection. The bride has a unique opportunity to view and try on wedding dresses straight off the runway before they are available in stores as well as styles from previous seasons. A trunk show is a special event not to be missed and offers brides a very exclusive and fun experience along with many benefits!

Why Attend a Trunk Show?

If you find yourself liking multiple styles from the same designer a trunk show is a wonderful opportunity to narrow down your search with many benefits that come along with it. Most likely some of the dresses you’ve been eying on the Internet or in magazines will be from the designer’s new collection, so a trunk show would be your chance to see them first and try them on! Some designers will also send dresses that are only available during a trunk show and not in stores, giving you the opportunity to choose and try on gowns that are a bit more exclusive and not available to everyone. Oftentimes designers and representatives from the company are at a bridal trunk show to offer their expert knowledge and answer any questions you may have about a style or custom changes. Some designers will even offer a pattern change for free or half off at the time of the trunk show. If the designer is in attendance at their trunk show, it is a very wonderful experience to meet with them, snap a photo or even receive a custom sketch (depending on the designer.)

In-House Alterations: Park City Bridal atelier offering competitive benefits.

Park City Bridal atelier offering competitive benefits.

How much is peeace of mind worth to you when it comes down to having your bridal alterations done? What if you didn’t buy your gown here, or what if you haven’t gotten your gown yet? What is the benefit of purchasing your gown where your alterations are done in-house you may ask yourself? This is exactly what this month’s blog is going to address.

You Love the Dress – But it’s Not Quite Appropriate for the Venue

Girl meets boy, boy and girl fall in love, boy asks girl to marry him, girl says YES!!!! Now it’s time to find the dress. So many dresses, just like so many fish in the sea (or eligible good looking men as the comparison goes), and yet you can only fall in love with and pick one. However that ONE just needs a slightly higher neckline, or maybe a little bit of a cap sleeve, or perhaps the back covered up a bit. Unfortunately, you LOVE that special dress and just can’t bear to marry your one true love in anything else. At Park City Bridal, our talented in-house alterations specialist will take care of all the fine tunings to the dress or met your wildest imaginations. One of the reasons in house alterations are so valuable is because the designers don’t always want the gown changed.  However this is not an issue when you have a highly qualified and professionally trained specialist on staff, like you do at Park City Bridal. The perfect solution to a once thought of “dress problem.” Consider the following and more done: extra lace, a shortened train, a touch of sparkle. consider it done. Our seamstress, Tony, is a master craftsman in the art of garment alterations.

It’s an Off-Rack Dress Purchase

You’ve heard the horror stories. A bride buys a dress from a well established bridal salon and when she gets it, she hates it. A bride who paid for a rush and now the dress isn’t going to come in time, and she is stuck worrying for her dress arrival. What is she going to do? Unfortunately, this usually leaves a bride having to purchase a second dress off-rack, increasing their expenses, but at least having a dress to get married in.

Luckily if you come to Park City Bridal, we have a small selection of off-rack dresses. If a bride is in a serious pinch we can make exceptions on some of our other samples as well, if a rush order can’t be fulfilled in time. If a bride is lucky enough to fit perfectly into an off-rack dress, then alterations should just be a simple. If the gown doesn’t fit like a glove right off the rack, have no fear! With dress fittings available by appointment, we can do what needs to be done to the dress. No need to take that off-rack dress out of our salon and search for another person to do the alterations, we have you covered because we value our brides. Just because you had a less than stellar experience somewhere else doesn’t mean that you won’t have the “glass slipper” experience here.

You Bought the Dress with Us, Now It’s Just Time for Those Finishing Touches

Unlike some other luxury bridal salons in the area, Park City Bridal does all of our alterations in-house because we believe your peace of mind is most important. In house alterations will meticulously deliver every little detail to give you that ‘Glass Slipper Experience’ we believe you deserve!

Look Out Ladies, Here Comes Muse by Berta

With sexy silhouettes, fabulous fabrics, and stunning style – Muse, the diffusion bridal line from the house of Berta, will soon be landing on the racks of Park City Bridal. What you should know about the amazing designer, her gorgeous designs, and why you need one of her gowns right now!

The Designer – Berta Balilti

The sole designer of the fashion house is Berta Balilti, a Shenkar College of design graduate. Since the launch of Berta in 2004, heads have been turning and haven’t stopped. Let’s take a look at why.

Berta has an avant-garde design style, one that always tests the barriers and boundaries of the modern world of fashion design. Her style of design is famous for bold, sexy and modern fit that incorporates vintage materials and retro styles.  She plays with fabrics mixing laces, tulle, and embroideries in a way that makes a woman feel feminine and sexy, confident and alive. Berta takes a hands-on approach in her company not only designing all of the collections, but also oversees all of the production assuring that her collection leaves for her retailers embodied exactly as she originally envisioned.

Berta is a name synonymous with high-end fashion and sought-after bridal. Her venture into evening wear and her diffusion line Muse constantly keeps fashion bloggers and magazine editors on their toes. People can’t seem to wait for her next collection. Getting an invite to her runway shows or one of her private viewing events is akin to getting a Golden Ticket into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, it’s that fabulous!!

MUSE

After its launch last year, MUSE by Berta has fast become the most popular and praised new bridal line worldwide. In direct continuation to this success story, the new 2018 MUSE bridal collection is undoubtedly one of the most effortlessly chic lines to be presented this year. True to the BERTA style, this new collection is the perfect mix of passion and confidence. Showing edgy silhouettes with soft flowing fabrics, it is the contradicting mix of elegance and boldness that makes this collection stand out.

The new MUSE ad campaign is a Sicilian love story that is set to take you into a journey through the magic of this authentic Italian island, which has managed to maintain a certain kind of vintage realness, which simply takes your breath away. As the oriental and authentic inspiration that lays at the core of the MUSE line, there couldn’t have been a better location than Sicily to accommodate and tell the MUSE story.

MUSE by Berta brought a certain focus on modern yet romantic silhouettes to the market. This new collection features a vast selection of edgy silhouettes with intricate details of lace, soft layers of tulle, and hints of glimmer. Each piece is a work of art, comprised of handmade details that make these masterpieces shine in their own spotlight. Featuring a sophisticated, sexy feel with high slits, there is an attitude each dress owns like no other. It is contagious while wearing the design, it’s an indescribable feeling of emphatic emotion.

Known for luxury, this fashion forward line is an indulgence of many sorts. It is no question that this new MUSE collection will be among the most sought-after designs in the coming year. There is a unique craft that is special to MUSE, which nothing can truly ever come close to. Let Park City Bridal be your “MUSE” on your wedding day.

Do’s and Don’ts of Gown Shopping

Do’s and Don’ts of Gown Shopping

DON’T schedule your wedding dress appointment late in the day.

The early bird gets the worm—er, in this case, the early bride gets an energetic, fresh bridal store staff that hasn’t dealt with the concerns of a million clients already. You usually get the best selection of dresses to choose from as well as multiple gowns haven’t been pulled for multiple clients. Also, even though the salon suggests 1 ½ hours for your appointment time, brides can often run over their appointment which then may cut into yours.

DO focus first on finding the best wedding dress silhouette for you.

Details are important—a long row of teensy pearl buttons and a well-placed ruffle or two can mean the difference between a good wedding dress and a great one. But before you start nitpicking the details, first figure out the silhouette that works best for you. Getting caught up in trends or what you “dream as the perfect dress”, may not be perfect for you. Listen to your stylist and be open to trying on a dress that you never imagined for your special day.

DON’T forget about the top of your wedding dress.

A long, gorgeous wedding dress with a fancy hem is to die for. Just remember that the top of your dress is what people will notice most—and what will show up in most wedding pictures. The majority of wedding photos that guests take of you are from the waist up. Make sure you have a neckline that is complimentary to the desired look that you want to see in your photos 10,20, 50 years from now. Sleeve, no sleeve, cap sleeve…..there are so many decisions to make on just the top of your dress. Make sure you love EVERY detail and leave not one overlooked.

DON’T pick a wedding dress just because it’s trendy now.

Trendy wedding dresses won’t necessarily stand the test of time—flip through your parents’ wedding album for evidence of that. A gown should be timeless.  When you feel sexy and glamorous in a gown that has both modern and traditional elements, and you feel like a better version of yourself when you’re wearing it, you’ve found your timeless gown. It’s something that will never go out of style. Remember it is easier to pass down your gown if the look is classic.

DO bring your camera wedding dress shopping (if the boutique allows it, which Park City Bridal does!)

Mirrors are used to sell dresses—cameras don’t lie.  Because you’ll be looking at the photos of this dress for years to come, know how it photographs from all angles.  You may want to FaceTime or Skype someone who is a decision maker on the gown as well. It is good to have multiple opinions, but in the end you have to go with what your heart tells you is best!

DO try on as many wedding dresses as you need to…

Almost any dress can look gorgeous on a hanger (or it can look terrible). Resist snap judgment. Once a dress is on a woman’s body, it takes on a different shape and look. This means that a bride will try on many dresses, and she should. Just as it takes time to find a husband or wife, it takes time to find the perfect gown.

…but DON’T try on too many wedding dresses.

We’re not trying to confuse you here—we just mean that you shouldn’t feel forced to try on more or fewer gowns than you want. You can suffer wedding dress overload (and total panic) if you feel like you must try on 20 different dresses at each salon you visit. Too many choices and too many places can add stress and confusion. Nine times out of 10, you will go back to your first salon and order your favorite gown anyway, so go with your gut. Find a bridal salon that carries your top three designers and “gets” your style. Don’t be afraid to buy the first dress you try on if your heart tells you it’s the “one.” It just gives you more time to sort out the other details of your wedding……like what the groom is going to wear J.

Part 2: Choosing the Perfect Veil

Part 2: Choosing the Perfect Veil

In our last blog we went over a variety of veil options: birdcage, shoulder, elbow, fingertip, and knee length. You were probably thinking…..”Wow, we covered a lot. There are so many lengths I need to consider…what to choose???”

But wait, there is more!

What about some REAL DRAMA? Do you want that veil that will wow the crowd? Something that adds that next level of theatrics? The final piece of elegance that trails behind you walk down the aisle? Then here are the last of the lengths to add the dazzle you need J

Chapel Length

A stunning walk down the aisle in a chapel length veil will scream beautiful bride. Also known as a sweep veil or full veil, the chapel length veil measures between 90″ and 108″ in length and should fall between 6 to 12 inches past your train or hem.  This veil is perfect for a more formal setting and elaborate gown. It will add a soft illusion to your dress and is perfect with a beautiful blusher. To ensure the perfect length when buying a chapel length veil, be sure to measure where it will be placed in your hair to the end of your hem.

Cathedral Length

Are you looking for a royal entrance a la Princess Diana, dare we say the ultimate show stopper? You will want to choose a cathedral length veil, the longest veil lengths that ranges between 120 to 144 inches. Cathedral veils are considered formal and should be worn with a semi-cathedral or cathedral length gown.  This veil type should extend past the bride’s train, and when spread out still allow the gown to be seen. If you are a bride with a dramatic flair then look no further than the cathedral length veil.

So How do the CELEBRITIES DO IT????

When your face is known around the world, layering it beneath tulle may seem like playing down one of your very best assets on the special day. But for these celebrity brides, wearing a veil only enhanced their star presence. See just a couple of our favorite looks from a couple of faces that you may recognize.

Little sister to Britney, Jamie Lynn Spears, wore a beautiful cathedral length veil on her wedding day. Kim Kardashian kept it long with her Givenchy veil on her wedding day! We all knew that drama went well with her look 😉

Miss Ciara looked like a princess on her wedding day to Russell Wilson. She chose her extra-long cathedral veil because she wanted to honor her mom.

Isn’t that just so sweet?!

And last, but CERTAINLY NEVER LEAST, the LADY, PRINCESS DIANA, with her 25ft. long cathedral veil. Gone but never forgotten…..
